Checklist and Tips for Academic Success in Kern Learn

In order to increase student success, communication between student, parent and staff is paramount and a clear understanding of Kern Learn expectations is integral. Below is a checklist and tips that will aid you in your academic success while in Kern Learn.

Student Acknowledgements:

I understand that I need to log on and work for an hour for every class I am taking in Kern Learn.
I understand that my attendance is based on completed work that I submit each week. If I miss three assignments, I am considered truant and I could be dropped from Kern Learn.
I understand that I need to complete all the modules in every class to learn the material presented.
I understand that I need to communicate with my teachers if I need help or clarification on assignments.
I understand that I need to develop and follow a study schedule and set a time to complete and submit my work.
I understand that I may be required to meet with my teachers once a week or biweekly to complete a lab or other assignments that cannot be done online (i.e.science labs, Spanish, PE labs and math.).
I understand that I can schedule appointments with my teachers and use the office as a quiet study area.
I understand that I need to check both my Inbox and school email regularly to communicate with school staff.
If my grades are below a 60%, I will communicate with my teachers weekly/biweekly (email, phone call, zooms, or in person) to get help until my grades improve, and I will update my counselors of my academic progress.
I understand that I can talk to my counselors for any academic, career or social-personal issues or ask any questions I may have.
I understand that my enrollment in Kern Learn is probationary, and I may be referred back to my home school if I am not benefiting from Kern Learn.
